About hyVET
Hybrid the future — Hybrid Education in Vocational Education and Training is a European partnership project designed to help VET institutions, teachers and learners navigate the shift to hybrid education.
Funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Programme, hyVET brings together partners from France, Romania and Türkiye to co-develop practical, evidence-based tools for the VET sector. The project responds to a documented need among VET teachers across Europe for structured methodologies, professional training and learner-centred approaches to hybrid delivery.
hyVET combines research, co-design and pilot testing to produce three open-access results: a hybrid teaching methodology, a professional certification course and a learning style diagnostic tool — all freely available to VET educators and institutions.

Erasmus+ and Vocational Education
hyVET is part of a broader European effort to modernise vocational education and training. Understanding this context helps explain why hybrid education matters — and why this project exists.
What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is the EU programme supporting education, training, youth and sport in Europe. With a budget of €26.2 billion for 2021–2027, it funds mobility, partnerships and innovation projects across all levels of education.
What is VET?
Vocational Education and Training (VET) prepares learners for specific trades and professions. Over 48% of upper secondary students in the EU are enrolled in VET programmes, covering fields from healthcare to construction, IT to hospitality.
Why hybrid education?
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the need for flexible, digital-ready VET systems. Research shows that over 90% of education stakeholders believe the shift to online learning will have a long-term impact on VET.
The digital skills gap
European Commission reports identified digital competence as a key gap in VET teacher training. Many educators lack structured guidance on how to design and deliver hybrid learning for vocational subjects.
A European challenge
VET systems across the EU share common challenges: high dropout rates, low attractiveness and difficulty ensuring continuity during disruptions. Hybrid education increases flexibility, engagement and resilience.
hyVET’s contribution
By developing an open-access methodology, a certification course and a diagnostic tool — tested across three countries — hyVET contributes directly to the EU’s Digital Education Action Plan 2021–2027 and the Osnabrück Declaration on VET.
